Victor Crichton and Desiree Munera of Tampa, Florida, teaching an Argentine
Tango Workshop in Mt Vernon, Missouri, August 10-12, 2001.
Victor and Desiree, experienced and articulate teachers of Argentine Tango,
will help you to discover the beauty and the passion of this most romantic
dance. Their goal is to teach and promote Tango and to help people find
their way through the mysteries and codes that were born in a very different
culture.
Victor grew up in Canada and has been teaching partner dancing for thirty
years. He had an extensive background in Swing, Hustle, Ballroom, Latin,
and Theater Arts before dedicating himself exclusively to Argentine Tango in
1997. Desiree, from Puerto Rico where dancing is way of life, grew up with
Salsa and Merengue in her blood. Tango drew them together in 1998 and since
then, they have spent all of their energies to bring Tango to a wider
audience.
To feed their personal thirst for more dancing and knowledge, they make an
annual pilgrimage to Buenos Aires to study with the world's foremost
masters. They're forte is an instinctive ability to make Tango
understandable and to have people dancing comfortably in short period of
time.
Given Desiree's background, be prepared for some Salsa thrown in. I
personally met Victor at many workshops across the country. As I watched,
this beautiful dancer was humbly absorbing all he could. Finally, in
Atlanta, he asked me to dance a very fast milonga. It was to die for! A
bit flustered, I took my seat and commented, "Now, I know why I drove 12
hours."
Schedule and pricing:
Friday August 10:
Meet at Kaffe Metropolitan in Aurora for a free tango lesson, dine and
dance, 7-10 pm.
Saturday August 11:
9 AM - 1 PM Argentine tango, waltz (vals), and tango milonga. $25.00
7 PM free Tango class with Victor and Desiree
8 PM - 11:00 Milonga ( the social dance, mixing tango and Ballroom
music) $5.00 each (Free with Sat and Sun classes)
Sunday, August 12:
9 AM - 1 PM Victor's Choice, Desiree's Choice $25.00
3 PM - ?? PM Free Practice ( Without Victor and Desiree, They will wave
as they fly by)
