Join us to dance TANGO in the 29th Greenwich Village Halloween Parade-It will the 6th year we will have a tango contingent! See photos of past parade from Clarin, B.A.'s premier newspaper plus other parade pictures on www.celebratetango.com which also has all details. We have been offered 2 spanking-new VW convertibles which will be draped with Halloween greetings from the tango community . The dealers offered them to the tango contingent since we are thought so classy (true). Bring friends who do not dance tango but can walk along to help us hand out flyers with the NYC tango calendar, or help drive our Tango vehicles! Trey Parker says we will pass out 10,000 flyers advertising all NYC tango activities! Many of the schools and tango groups donated the money for this. He (dancer, designer, mac whiz) will design them so some will be folded into paper airplanes (thanks, Candice!!!) to sail into the crowd! We will report what happens--will this increase our community size???? This year we will have tango dancers who are also stiltwalkers-Candice and Helmut, teachers, performers ( Ballet Los Pampas fame, etc), tangoing on stilts! Plus Johnny Fox, "The King of Swords", also fire-eater (Yes, he too is a tango dancer! El Pulpo will sing with his tango trio!!!) If you are in the area, it is really a hoot! Turn one way and there are 6 guys in curly wigs dressed as Richard Simmons (see pictures on www.celebratetango.com) turn the other way and see 12- foot puppets, or a gaggle of drag queen Marilyn Monroes. We always get a lot of applause--the crowd loves us--truly!! Show up in your tango best. Or worst. Or favorite costume or just a mask or wig. Or nothing.
