Tango in Toronto Another round of tango technique lessons has started at EL Rancho, the classes are drop-in however they are structured in 10 classes as follows: We start the first 30 to 45 minutes with stretching and exercises related to the tango dance, then we work in the lead and follow techniques of various tango choreographic units, patterns and figures the rest of the two hours. In the first five classes we start to learning the lead/follow techniques for weight transfer, walks in different directions, crosses, ochos, figures, and moving around the floor in a linear manner. The last 5 classes we incorporate circular motions on the floor, like Merry-go-round, giros, grape-vines, curls and molinetes. The emphasis is on technique, improvisation and developing your own style and your own sequences. The classes will benefit the beginners as well as the intermediate by improving the quality of the movement and position.
About the instructors: My name is Lisandro, I am born in Argentina and exposed to the tango culture since then, I am dancing tango since 1994 and teaching since 1997 and in El Rancho since 1998. My partner Tatiana has join me in the teaching business a year ago, she has five years in Tango and extensive experience in other dances like gypsy-flamenco, African and ballet. I have joined Tatiana's classes in African dances and ballet 2 years ago.
