There are very few milongueros and even fewer milongueras who go to dance in the milongas of Buenos Aires. During the past two years, I have gotten to know Amanda Lucero who has been dancing and singing tango all her life. She has the most beautiful feet on the dance floor in BsAs.
It stands to reason that if you want to learn a second language well, you take classes with a native speaker. The same can be applied learning tango. If you want to learn to dance tango as it is danced socially in the milongas of Buenos Aires since the late 1940s, you take classes with someone who has been dancing socially for fifty years in the milongas. Native speakers teach more than words; they explain subtleties and how the language is used. By the same token, a milonguero or milonguera teach more than steps. They offer an approach that is unlike any tango teacher. Their life experience in tango is a part of their teaching, and it will bring a new understanding of tango which will be reflected in your dancing. Miguel Angel Balbi and Amanda Lucero are two such people who will change how you think and feel about tango. They are available for private classes in Buenos Aires. They will help you fine tune your dancing to create your own personal style. They are both tango singers. Bring your video camera to record them dancing, talking, and singing. I will be there to translate for you. Be sure to write me in advance of your trip to arrange appointments. Pichi de Buenos Aires
