May 3 - 10, 2003

Tango Workshop with Alberto Paz & Valorie Hart

at Villa La Rogaia in Umbria/ Italy, between Florence and Rome

Availability for a single woman and one more couple (intermediate level)

The teachers:

Alberto Paz grew up in the streets of Buenos Aires and now lives and works in
New Orleans. Together with his partner, the New York artist Valorie Hart, he
has earned a solid reputation for a conceptually clear method of instruction.
Alberto is teacher as well as writer, historian and lecturer on Argentine
Tango. He publishes "El Firulete, The Argentine Tango Magazine".

Alberto & Valorie have mainly studied with Mingo Pugliese and teach the
traditional and authentic concept of improvisation: "Lead and follow imply we
are doing something we both know. But the moment you are improvising, you can't
lead or follow. The woman moves first, the man responds and creates the space
for her to dance."

Themes of the workshop:

A DANCE MAKE OVER FROM HEAD TO TOE

- All ROADS lead to tango (Knowing where to go around the floor and getting

there). A primer on direction changes while moving into the line of dance.

- Making the RIGHT choices (choosing the right places to take your partner

for a spin). A primer on changes of direction that result in right hand turns.

- Don't be LEFT behind (exploring the left side of the Tango). A primer on

changes of direction that result in left hand turns.

- Taking the TIME to smell the roses (the thorny concept of stopping to

dance). A primer on paradas, sweeps, pauses to change directions.

Price: USD/ EUR 620 for one week with 20 hours of dance instruction, lodging in
double room, breakfast and dinner. Extra charge for single rooms: USD 110 per
week.
