Julio is the son of legendary milonguero Miguel Balmaceda, who taught many of the well known dancers in the Bs As tango dance scene. Julio's tango lessons came from his father who was his only teacher. After his father died in 1991, Julio took over his father's classes at the most prestigious tango salons in Bs As: Canning, Grisel, El Parakultural, Almagro, and La Galeria del Tango, continuing the teaching traditions of his family. Corina started dancing at the age of 6. She graduated from the National Institute of Dance in Argentina. She had her first experience teaching classical dance when she was 17. When she was 23, she dedicated herself to improve her tango and learn the secrets of its culture by dancing with the best old milongueros. Since Julio y Corina met in 1996 they have built a reputation as being one of the most elegant tango couples, dancing and teaching together in the US, Europe, Asia, & Bs As. They are also considered one of the best proponents of the Tango-vals in the world. They are known for their ability to combine their rhythm and musicality with wonderful elegance and style. Since 1997 they have performed with the well known Orchestra COLOR TANGO. In 1998 they joined the cast of the famous Broadway tango show FOREVER TANGO! In their classes they make sure the leader and the follower are given the same attention. Their teaching is very clear, stressing connection and correct technique for creating clean and strong movements. Most importantly, they bring an energy and joy to their teaching that make their classes irresistible.
