tango right here in the Midwest with professional and wonderful teachers.
ARGENTINE TANGO WORKSHOP, FAIRFIELD IOWA, FRIDAY/SATURDAY MAY 30/31
On Friday and Saturday, May 30th and 31st, Carlos Favre and Michelle Costello
will return for their second round of teaching Argentine tango in Fairfield. A
few months ago they taught tango to over 40 dancers here and they are very
enthusiastic about returning.
Carlos, a native of Buenos Aires, and Michelle, have studied with some of the
masters of tango in Argentina, and Carlos has been teaching and performing
tango professionally since 1995 in Chicago. Together with Michelle, he's
performed recently at the Cultural Chicago Center, Daley Plaza, The Chicago
Field Museum, and at various tango clubs and restaurants. They also own one
of Chicago's most famous tango nightclubs, Recuerdo (www.recuerdoclub.com).
Recognized for their elegance and musicality on the dance floor, Carlos and
Michelle will do a free talk and tango demonstration on Friday, May 30th, at
8pm at Morning Star Studio, on the east side of the Fairfield Square. After
the demo they will begin a series of tango classes, Friday night and all day
Saturday. The first two classes are for beginners (although highly
recommended by Carlos as review for those who know some tango already); the
next four classes are for those who've already learned the basics.
Carlos and Michelle will teach basic mechanics and technique of traditional
salon-style tango; the art of leading and following; walking steps, pauses,
flourishes; relaxed attentiveness; dancing in response to the music; connec-
tion and improvisation. They will carefully break down and explain everything
they teach to make it simple and accessible to everyone, whatever your dance
background.

Dance is at the M.U.M. Student Union Ballroom, M.U.M. Campus, north edge of
Fairfield (maps will be provided at the lessons).
No partner or experience necessary.
Housing available for out-of-towners: please inquire (or volunteer to host
a guest please).

free talk and demonstration on Friday night.
