Florencia & Tomas ----------------- Florencia and Tomas met in Buenos Aires in 1995.Together, they assisted in Graciela Gonzalez's classesand studied extensively with Gustavo Naveira. Subsequent years of research, practice and groundwork resulted in a shareddevotion to the old milongueros, and deep mutual respect foreach other. Their shared tango background made them friends.Their affinity in approach and understanding made them greatdance partners. This dynamic duo will be teaching and performing together on New Mexico and Colorado this coming June. Minneapolis will be the next city to benefit for asecond time from the deep, rich understanding and knowledge shared by the combination of Florencia and Tomas. Biography of TOMAS HOWLIN ------------ Tomas is classic tango. He inspires the traditional esthetic whichcharacterizes this dance, bringing a fresh fluidity and elegance intoeach community he visits. His unique insight and understanding of body dynamics makeshim an exquisite teacher. His analysis and the way he deconstructsthe tango will help you understand YOUR OWN dance. And thisis the most valuable gift you can get. He will teach you how to understand and improve by yourself.You will find him patient, humorous and devoted, with a unique approach that will help you easily understand his analysis of your dancing. Tomas is a professional Argentine Tango dancer who performs and teaches in Buenos Aires, the United States, Canada and Europe. He studied with the most renowned master teachers of all generations. His learning and teaching experience is complete and exceptional. Tomas is among the few teachers traveling worldwide who taught regularly in the most well known academies of Buenos Aires. He is an official representative for the Secretary of Culture of Buenos Aires, as well as Master teacher recognized by the University of Buenos Aires. They are quite complex and extremely simple and reasonable at the same time. This is Tomas' 2003 topic. ------------------------------------------------ SUNDAY INTERMEDIATE WORKSHOPS: 1 to 2:30 PM - BREAKING THE CODES: salon steps that "break" or seriously damage the code of dance, yet enrich musicality and communication skills. 3 to 4:30 PM - VALS: MUSICALITY IN WALTZ One of Tomas' favorite subjects. ------------------------------------------------ MONDAY INTERMEDIATE WORKSHOPS: 8 TO 9:30 PM - TANGO TRASPIE: lots of fun! ------------------------------------------------ NOTE: Except for the beginning class on Thursday night, the workshops were designed for a broad range intermediate level that includes all students above 6 months of tango experience through the most advanced. We will divide the levels if necessary for the benefit of each class. If you are less experienced, we recommend you take the classes in order starting from the 1st one on Saturday. A partner is not required but is always recommended to balance gender. We will rotate partners if it is necessary. Please allow extra time before class to register.
