This year's 8th Annual Portland TangoFest will be Oct 13-17, 2004
(Wednesday-Sunday).

Out goal to you and the world tango community has always been to create the
friendliest, kindest, best taught, most passionate, most fun, best organized,
and most affordable tango festival in the world. Last year, with nearly 600
attendees, the Portland TangoFest has now become the most popular tango event
in North America.
To continue this tradition, we've made some changes and additions, but mostly
I've stayed with the tried and true. For example, here are some of the
highlights:

*  27 great instructors,
*  8 hand-picked DJ's,
*  2 fantastic tango orchestras,
* 5 traditional classic evening milongas,
*  3 alternative afternoon milongas,
*  2 all-night milongas,
*  9 incredible venues,
* numerous funky Portland coffee houses and restaurants.

Because of increased attendance, we will make more use of the wonderful old
classic ballrooms existing in Portland. These are not the bland carpeted hotel
ballrooms with temporary parquet floors--but are huge fraternal and ethnic
lodges with 3 & 4000 sq ft hard wood floors. Using these in conjunction with
the Ankeny Street Studio (all within 5 blocks of each other) will nearly double
the available classroom space this year.

However, two thing that will never change are (1) low price--with one exception
of an increase of $5 for the orchestra on Friday, and (2) emphasis on always
providing and promoting good social Argentine Tango.
