The city's transit union went on strike 3 AM today, shutting
down
buses and subways.

The transit union has a history of militancy. When issued a
restraining order during the 1966 strike, the union
president said "the judge can drop dead in his black robes."
Well, the union president died shortly thereafter. Even
greater irony, is that the city named a depot after him.
