Kara has developed a pedagogy that is designed to empower students by giving them tools that focus on a solid technique, a clear idea of the structure of the dance, connection, lead and follow, musicality, improvisation, and the development of a personal style. Whether the embrace is open or closed, Kara's emphasis is on how to maintain a connection that is sensitive, communicative and sensual between both leader and follower. She currently lives in Buenos Aires, teaching well-attended classes at Tango Brujo. She also gives workshops and participates in festivals throughout Argentina, Asia, Europe, and the United States. She participated last year in TangoMagia's 10th Anniversary Festival in Amsterdam and has also participated in festivals in Istanbul, Zurich and Siracusa in 2008. NINA TATAROWICZ Nina has spent the past 8 years performing and teaching tango in Buenos Aires and around the world. An accomplished leader and follower, Nina translates the intrigue of tango into a language that is accessible to all. Emphasizing an intimate embrace and relaxed, organic body movement, she provides her students with a solid foundation in technique and dance structure. She encourages their creativity and the expression of their own unique personality in the dance. Nina returns often to Buenos Aires with opportunities to teach and perform, and currently is based in the Chicago area as a teacher, dancer, choreographer and event organizer. On stage, her projects include dancing in the production “Tango: Love and Sex” in Buenos Aires' Teatro Avenida in 2004 with choreography by Doris Pettroni, creating her own choreographic works in the US between 2005 - 2008, dancing the lead role in the show “Tango is My Shadow” in Chicago with choreography by Melina Brufman and Claudio Gonzalez, and dancing the role of Persephone in the tango-theater piece "Eurydice Ascending" in the Cambalache V Festival 2008 in Buenos Aires. In addition to her persistent exploration into the evolution of tango as a social dance form, Nina's latest endeavors involve testing the boundaries of tango language, harnessing its potential to touch audiences from a theatrical point of departure.
