Evan Wallace's new Tango classes continue in Seattle, WA. The next five-week series starts Wednesday evening, March 17, in downtown Seattle at the Belltown Dance Studio.
Argentine Tango Level 1: The Fundamentals Wednesdays, 7:30 - 8:30 p.m. March 17 - April 14, 2010 (five classes) Prerequisite: None This introductory class will focus on the underlying structure of Argentine Tango, with an emphasis on the body mechanics of the individual dancers and the nature of the connection and dynamic between lead and follow. The vocabulary emphasis in this series will be on simple walking and variations. As such, more advanced dancers may benefit from this class as well. Argentine Tango Level 2-3: Beyond Fundamentals -- Tango in Close Embrace Wednesdays, 8:30 - 9:30 p.m. March 17 - April 14, 2010 (five classes) Prerequisite: At least one session of Level 1 This series will delve further into the structure of the Tango vocabulary. The goal of this series will be to teach students to approach Tango as a true "one-step" dance, where the broadest range of possibilities are available at each moment of the dance. Emphasis in this series will be on the close embrace, but with a more expansive vocabulary and dynamic. After this class, students will be well on their way to dancing social Tango confidently with elegance, simplicity, and musicality, and will be well equipped to absorb material from other instructors in a variety of styles.
