Even with all the suggestions on adjusting the body to adapt to smaller or taller people, sometimes the reality is that the difference is too great. I am 6 ft. tall and can dance with most followers, but there are some women who are too short to comfortably dance close embrace with. It has nothing to do with their dancing, which can be wonderful, or liking or disliking them for personal reasons. A couple shares a mutual axis and if there is too much difference between the two, it will become lop-sided and out of balance, not to mention figuring out where to put your hands and arms. We all encounter ideal partners once in a while who feel perfect for us...but by the same token, no amount of adjustment can compensate if the disparity is too great. I think it is better to accept that than try to overcompensate. The most important thing is to maintain your posture and correct form. I have been in the opposite position also with very tall women, but again, even if their head is on top of mine, we will dance better if we both maintain our posture.
