The leader approaches the floor backwards. This avoids any requirement for eye contact, except with your partner, with whom you indulge in deep conversation. Since you have no idea if/who/whether you are about to intrude on a couple's space, you can simply ram backwards into the line of dance. Make a 90 degree rotation to keep your back turned to any now inconvenienced couple(s). Demonstrate your coolness by standing and continuing that all-important conversation with your partner. When you are finished conversing, then you can start to dance. This is the best time to demonstrate all your non-travelling moves in-place. If you see someone enter the floor, then you should of course enter the floor immediately behind them. This can be extended to get three or four couples on to the floor with minimum inconvenience, since it is obviously only a single disruption. cheers rde _______________________________________________ Tango-L mailing list Tango-L@mit.edu http://mailman.mit.edu/mailman/listinfo/tango-l
