Michael, we shall continue the conversation in NY when you get here. To put it simply, If there is no music, there is no dance. If there is no music, there is no tango. You can also learn how to dance by studying ballet. But we are reading this list because we dance tango, not ballet. Nothing in the Trenner quote you give advocates teaching without music. And if the last message you wrote is his quote and not yours, with all due respect to Trenner, and without publicly dropping names, every great teacher and teaching couple i've experienced over the years will disagree. Because what you end up with is people who cant dance to the music. So i guess you can organize a milonga for those people and save money by not hiring a dj or bringing a sound system. _______________________________________________ Tango-L mailing list Tango-L@mit.edu http://mailman.mit.edu/mailman/listinfo/tango-l
