Thanks to Phil, Howard and other who have replied. Howard, just in case you misread my posting, I want to clarrify what I was doing.
First, I have read the manual n times over, and tried to absorb it. If you look again at the specification for my component, I had this parameter: <parameter name="productSize" direction="in" java-type="java.lang.Long" required="no"/> My getters and setters for this field use a Long. As you pointed out, Tapestry doesn't support conversion from Long. This is the source of my problem as Tapestry doesn't convert from this Class. There is no place that I explicitly tell Tapestry this parameter is type String. The reason I am using static parameters is that A) this Component will only display information of certain type. The same type of component on a different page will have different static parameters. B) I'm a newbie and know no better. I understand what you mean about Tapestry only dealing with objects etc. The only reason I stooped down to doing String conversions was out of desperation.. ..whadya say, 5 lashes with a parallel cable and all's forgiven? :) Regards, Pat. ------------------------------------------------------- This sf.net email is sponsored by:ThinkGeek Welcome to geek heaven. http://thinkgeek.com/sf _______________________________________________ Tapestry-developer mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/tapestry-developer
