Hi Frank,

Will look into these bugs soon. Making date field editable causes issues 
when user enter invalid date Strings, currently it returns these as null. 
Will probably need to expose some invalid entry flag.

The java.util.SimpleDateFormat which DatePicker uses sees to make some awful 
approximations with entered text.
