But "Type" is not a required field. At least in the 2.2-beta-2, it was not.

Got that!
The numeric validator works fine if I type in a number but fails if I type
in a alphabetic string.
Is this how it is supposed to be?
Am I doing something wrong?
Thanks!
Manoj

When using ValidField with a numeric validator, you must
set the type parameter of the ValidField to indicate the
Java type to convert to and from.
