To give my 0.02 EUR here, yes, I've played around with Hibernate for some months. I really liked the framework and the way Gavin supports the community. If you're used do EOF however you'll usually be used to a much more sophisticated feature set than Hibernate is even willing to offer. For a short time I was even planning on implementing object graph management on top of Hibernate but gave that up in favor of Cayenne ...
