Hi Torsten,

There is a validator available for an earlier version of Tapestry (2.0). Unfortunately, Tapestry has changed (improved) quite a bit in the past few months, and for various personal reasons I have not been able to keep up :(. There is a new version of the validator in the works that will possibly become part of the next Tapestry release if it is good enough, but you will likely be able to use it before that as well. I will send a message to the list when it is ready with details.

In the mean time, I could suggest a couple of things that will make your life much easier:

1) If you use or can use Eclipse, please try Geoff's Spindle plug in (spindle.sf.net) -- it allows you to build Tapestry apps without needing to edit the XML file at all. It greatly decreases the range of possible errors that can occur and warns about a lot of the rest.

2) In the latest version of Tapestry (2.2) the error  "Template for component x does not reference embedded components" is replaced with a log entry instead, and does not interrupt the program flow.

I hope this helps to some extent.

Is there any tool (Ant task) available for validating
a Tapestry application during build?

This validation could bring up runtime errors such as
"Template for component x does not reference embedded
components: x, y, z"

The guys from Mind Bridge were talking about an Ant
task providing a static validator (

).

Cheers,
