Two easy ways to do this will available be in the next version :).

I am afraid that in this one you have to replace the component that renders the column header by overriding the getColumnRenderer() method in the ITableColumn implementation you use. Please have a look at the code in SimpleTableColumn and in net.sf.contrib.table.components.inserted to see how to do it. 

This is clearly an overkill, but adding the arrows was one of the last things I did before the release, and I did not have time to perfect its configurability at the time. It is trickier than usual -- note that the parameter approach is not directly possible, since a Block is used.

The silver lining of all of this is that you will be able to change the appearance of the column headers in any way you want as a result. :)
