Hi all,

We have mentioned the idea of a component repository site a lot of times on this list and on the Wiki. The arrival of libraries in 2.2 provides the last piece needed to make this happen. It seems to me that there is now quite a number of people who would like to participate in such a project as well. In short, I think it is high time that we act :-).

I am assuming that the site would be built primarily in Tapestry (a nice side-effect of that is that the components that come out of it would be immediately available for use by the community). I have put up a rough high level list of the functionality that such a site would need, as I see it. The list is at:

http://tapestry.sourceforge.net/wiki/index.php/ComponentRepository

If you are interested in the topic, please update the Wiki with your comments or respond here on the mailing list. Please also have a look at the 'outstanding questions' section -- I think those form the most interesing decisions we need to take.

I am particularly interested in the trival matter of selecting a name :-). Having a name would allow the creation of a project on SF and the beginning of the work.

Also, if anyone is interested in implementing a particular section (element, etc) of the site, please make this clear -- we need to distribute the work at some point.

Please note that I believe that this should in no way reflect on components that are to be added in Contrib. For the time being contrib is our mechanism for sharing code.

Best regards and may we start moving forward on this,

-mb
