Malcolm,

This component is good for referencing static links like HTML help
I think what Howard is saying is that by using the GenericLink, we can have a Pop component that serves static and dynamic urls equally. This has the virtue that we only introduce 1 component. I hadn't thought of implementing the Pop as a wrapper component (I'd never looked at the Rollover before) but it sounds like a good idea.

The string quotes is to stop OGNL throwing a fit, the JavaScript code quotes the string passed through in the popup.script.

This component is good for referencing static links like HTML help files, you arguably could use an Asset but it seems hardly worth the effort. I think this component fills its niece pretty well.

I think another component 'PopupServiceLink' would be good for opening new Tapestry page windows.

Who put PopupLink in? I was a little dissapointed in what I saw of it ...

You can specify features (good), but have to provide the outer quotes (!!!)
Surely the component can take a simple string as input and put the necessary
quotes around it as it renders the HTML .... you can do that easily just
using OGNL, or a tiny bit of Java code, even if features is optional.

Being able to specify a URL is neat; however, it would be really useful if
you could use it in combination with the existing link components. It
should be possible to do this, by getting the current Link from the
RequestCycle and addining an onclick event handler to it.

Take a peek at how Rollover interacts with the link that surrounds it.

I think this is a useful component that will be used frequently, but needs
to be kicked up a notch to be in the same league as the other contributed
components.
