On a more general note (I will add a bug listing shortly) it would be good to
allow further customization of every field. e.g: allow the element type and
attributes to be overriden.

I'm coming up against this now, in two cases:
a) I want to create a validating textarea field
b) I want to add different javascript to an onclick handler

The later (b) can be achieved by overriding the generateAttributes(). But you
can't replace the root element without overring the complete renderComponent
method.

I was thinking that when the move of Tapestry over to it's new CVS home was
completed, that I might start refactoring some of this (if of course, people
don't stone me first for suggesting it :-)

I won't be doing this until then - so don't anyone hold their breath!!

What do other people think, of the idea?

Neil
