Read the Page Localisation section of Chapter 4 of the Developers Guide for an explanation of why.in fact, there it is - I did not realize that on first reading. However, I still think it is an unnecessary restriction (rather, a bug). The request MindBridge pointed us to already suggests a solution. I would rather change the framework than have everybody code workarounds like the one you suggest - which, along with the 3 lines of rather cryptic code, causes a HTTP redirect to be issued.
