Are you dealing with multiple browser processes or just multiple browser windows onto the same browser process?

On my Win2k system, every time I hit the launch icon for IE, it launches a new IE process (wrong, in my opinion). But every time I hit the Moz launch icon it opens a new window for a single already running Moz process (right, in my opinion). This may be related to Mozilla "quickstart" functionality.

Subject: [Tapestry-developer] Definition of a session (a browser perspective)
Date: Tue, 28 Jan 2003 20:24:23 +0200

Hi all

This is not really a Tapestry-related question but here goes anyway...

I am starting to test my tapestry application and have noticed differences
in the way IE and Netscape/Mozilla
works when opening multiple instances of the browser

In IE I can open 2 or more instances of the browser on the same client
machine and the instances will NOT affect each others workings/session-data.

Example. I can log as 'john-doe' in the one instance and see his
information.
In another instance I can log in as 'jane-doe' and see her
information.
I can go on working as normal afterwards.

When I try the above using Netscape/Mozilla the last instance logged in
somehow changes the user information which I store in the Visit object to
that person's information. In other words the the Session-data seems to be
shared across the all instances coming in from the same client machine.

My question is then which of the two browsers is behaving correctly.
Are there browser-settings that can harmonize behaviour across the two
browsres?

I am sorry for the off-beat question but even an extensive Google-search
did'nt help me.

Thank you
