and this regarding bean factory
http://jakarta.apache.org/hivemind/hivemind-lib/apidocs/org/apache/hivemind/lib/BeanFactory.html
which I presume can be utilised to provide Spring beans?

I guess you could do something like this:

<page-specification class=". . .">
  <inject property="mySpringBean" object="spring:MySpringBean"/>
</page-specification>
