And my point is, and has been that static type checks are a false
illusion of "safety".
Look at all the reflective magic that occurs under the covers of
Tapestry. Without tests, it would be a huge house of cards. Howard
is a diligent tester *because* he realizes the value in them. Had he
only relied on the compiler, we'd all be building with servlets where
you get that security blanket of static type checking. Don't even
use JSP's - unless you compile them during your build process (but
who does?).
