Linda, It looks like Cam Studio simply captures the screen, or an area which you define, by reading the video memory or scanning the pixels in the display. Not sure which one, but who really cares, anyway?
The point is, it looks like you arrange things on your screen as you'd like to have them captured, and Cam Studio can capture the whole screen or just a portion that you outline by pointing, clicking and dragging your mouse. Beware of moving things if you select a portion of the screen instead of the whole screen. The selection is relative to the screen itself, not the windows displayed on the screen.
