Howdy Folks, Some time last year (or maybe the year before) I read a reference to these books on the Mandolin Cafe Board only to learn they were out of print. As the corresponence progressed, I suggested that in this day and age of "printing on demand" it should not be too hard to convince the University of Missouri Press to reprint, especially as second hand copies were trading at several hundred dolars each.
Now I see that the OTFR vols 1 and 2 are available (listed on the University Press' website), but I am having a very hard time convincing booksellers and distributors here in the UK that these have been reprinted and are not, as both Blackwell (big booksellers) and Eurospan (big pulishers' distributor) are reporting: out of print (OP), not on any file, or that that the volume 2 reprint is already available but volume 1 is coming out some time later. Aaaarggghhh. Having spent the last 39 years either in a library or in the book trade (12 years at Blackwells serving American institutional libraries) sourcing unusual/rare material (Uzbek language learning materials anyone) I am feeling very frustrated at not being able to get my hands on a copy. Anyone else in the UK (or the US) tried to get a set? Did you have any luck? What's the trick? If anyone has ordered a case and still has some to spare...I'm game. Does this mean I have to go through the Amazon with a machete?
