That is true.  Doc Watson's musical personality is infectious.

It makes me realize the importance of "evangelizing" the sorts of music that we 
love.

I grew up in a household with practically no music, except for Top 40 radio.  
It was only much later in life that I have found some of my favorite musicians 
and music forms.  For example, I never had listened to Bill Monroe until around 
2002 or 2003, I think.  

When "O Brother" was in full swing, Norman Blake came to my local university.  
I read about the upcoming event and had no idea who he was, so I made the 
conscious decision not to go. If I'd had someone to mentor me about American 
music as a youngster, I would have surely been there in the front row.
