============================= Taverna Workbench 3.0 Alpha 1 ============================= The myGrid team at University of Manchester are pleased to announce Taverna Workbench 3 alpha 1.
This is an alpha release so does not have all the features that will be in the final release. Some of the features NOT included in this release are: * Running and editing of BioMOBY and Tool services * Editing of REST and XPath services * The Service Catalogue and myExperiment perspectives * Viewing intermediate workflow results This release is intended for people who are interested in trying out the new features and are happy running pre-release software. It should only be used for testing; workflows produced with this version may NOT be compatible with the final release version and are thus unsupported. There is no application installer for the alpha release - unzip the downloaded file and run the startup script taverna.sh (Linux or Mac) or taverna.bat (Windows). What's new in Taverna Workbench 3.0 Alpha ----------------------------------------------------------------- Taverna Workbench has been rewritten as an OSGi application. This allows us to remove the current classloader isolation code (Raven) and change the build and application update system to allow more frequent incremental updates. Supports the new SCUFL workflow language and DataBundle data format. Workflow execution and run management is handled by the new Taverna Platform. SCUFL2: * New workflow language for Taverna products * Abstract workflow definition – not tied to workflow execution * Easy to use API DataBundle: * New data format for workflow inputs and outputs * API compatible with standard Java file system * Saves as zip file for portability Taverna Platform : * Run Service for managing workflow runs * Support for multiple execution environments (local machine, Taverna Server, etc.) User interface changes improvements: * Tabs for open workflows * Tabs for workflow runs * Editing of nested workflows within the same tab Download -------------- To download Taverna Workbench 3 alpha 1 (71 MiB): https://launchpad.net/taverna/t3/3.0.a1/+download/taverna-workbench-3.0.a1.zip md5: b4ac39a2e058c066af20e2b685be52fc sha1: f99f2b142493757061b0659e76b13f2eeb0021f3 Requirements and further details can be found in the README.txt: https://launchpad.net/taverna/t3/3.0.a1/+download/README.txt Feedback -------------- The myGrid team welcome any feedback, which will be taken into account when planning the next releases of Taverna 3.
