Hi everyone! I'm pleased to announce the release of Taverna Server 2.5.3. Though there have been a few versions of Taverna Server 2.5 before (for various projects here in Manchester) this is the first one that I think is of the quality suitable for a general release.

This version of Taverna Server requires:
* Unix (e.g., Linux, OSX, FreeBSD)
* Java 7 (e.g., Oracle Java 7, OpenJDK 7)
* Apache Tomcat (minimum version: 6)
Known Deployment Issues and Limitations
=======================================
Taverna Server is a relatively heavyweight application; it uses a
significant amount of memory and performs quite a lot of computation and
disk I/O when a workflow is run. When deploying it, performance problems
are likely if the system is under-resourced. We currently have a
guideline of around 19 seconds for running a trivial workflow; if you
are finding that a trivial workflow is taking longer than that, please
check that the host platform has sufficient memory, CPU and disk
capacity before contacting Taverna Support <[email protected]>.
We do not warrant that values in workflows can be larger than 100MB. It
might work, or it might not. Data pointed to by filenames or URLs that
are passed around in workflows can be of any size.
