(As part of the myGrid office discussions gone email) Yesterday I discussed with Alex on what icon we should use for the Edit->Delete menu action and corresponding toolbar icon in Taverna 2.
As you might notice in the released 2.0 this is currently a kind of document with a red cross. My favourite is the red cross without the document - the problem with this is that it is already used for File->Close, with a sister double-cross for File-> Close all. Alex has argued that we should instead use a trash bin icon, but when we tried this before the 2.0 release (I believe in one of the betas) it was difficult to recognize it. I thought that one could work around this by replacing the close-icon with say an X within a box or a circle (emulating the "Close Window" actions of most OSes) - however these are also most of the time very red and screaming. Perhaps a grey X icon, I said. However -as Alex pointed out, this would make it look like it is disabled, like how File->Save is disabled right after s ave. She has now found a new trash bin icon that she wants to try, this has more of a 3d feel too it and should be possible to recognize as a trash - however I still feel it is also a bit too grey. -- Stian Soiland-Reyes, myGrid team School of Computer Science The University of Manchester ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Apps built with the Adobe(R) Flex(R) framework and Flex Builder(TM) are powering Web 2.0 with engaging, cross-platform capabilities.
