I can create a Jira improvement issue but I think you need to specify
in more detail what you are proposing.  It sounds quite simple, but
there are decisions like, where do you save the workflow (do you
overwrite the original?) and what should happen with the editing
undo/redo.  I've used auto-saving applications that also save the
editing record - that would alter the serialization of the workflows :-(

Alternatively, pick an application that does what you think Taverna
should do and say "do that" :-)

It may be quite simple to implement e.g. just start a Timer (one of
java's many Timers) and have as its action an autosave method on all
open workflows that have been edited.
