Hi,
I am using Taverna 2.0 beta 1 on Ubuntu 9.04. I have a few questions /
suggestions through benchmarking Taverna's usability for Neuroimaging data
analysis.
(1) It's good that Taverna 2.0 starts supporting zoom in and out. Once the
workflow gets zoomed in, only the centre part is visible and there seems no
way that I can move or scroll down/up/left/right the canvas to browse the
rest part of the workflow. (there is no scroll bar present)
(2) The input values for XML splitters are stored as string constants, and
Taverna 2.0 does not have 'set it as boring'.
These 2 issues have bothered us for a while - to the extend we had to
stopped working on it. Our workflow typically contains at least 30
processors, each of which averagely has 5 to 6 input parameters, and pretty
much every processor needs two XMLsplitters for both inputs and outputs.
Since we cannot set "boring processor", the canvas easily becomes very
crowed and non-readable at all - yes we can zoom in, but as stated in (1),
once it is zoomed in, we are unable to see the whole workflow.
If (1) is known to you as a glitch, I was wondering if you can put it in
your near future's to-do. If (1) is fixed then (2) becomes less
significant to us, yet I am still hoping XMLsplitters / string constants can
be set as "boring".
(3) We used JAX-WS to wrap the fMRI tools. Removing and re-importing the
WSDL activity does not reflect the change of the web services (e.g., add a
new input parameter to a method) unless we restart Taverna.
(4) Finally, a question. How do I handle a list of strings as input /
output? Say, a pseudo example, the list of strings stores a list of file
names. I have a processor takes on one of the file name, opens the file
and does some interesting changes to that file, changes the file name by
appending "_update" to the end of the original name, and then repeats until
all files in the list are updated. The process outputs a list with the new
file names.
Thanks.
