This would be brilliant. You know, someday, when we all have time to
learn Java and can contribute more than grand ideas (myself included!)

If mobile apps were to be developed, it might be good to check with
users as to what platform/s to support. I'd get no benefit from an
Android app, or at least not in the near future (thank you, 2-year
AT&T contracts...) but maybe there aren't enough iPhone users to
justify an iPhone app as well. The biggest issue I would foresee with
developing mobile apps is that keeping up with updates on more than
one mobile platform could be an enormous nuisance - each one is yet
another OS to support.

In lieu of sexy little mobile apps, a web interface that could be
accessed with a mobile browser could be quite functional. It seems
like the basic functionality should include workflow editing (using
normal web-based text editing), queuing for remote execution, and
progress monitoring. Anything more than that should probably be done
from a proper computer. I can imagine this might be something that
would work with a server installation of Taverna, so I'd go to a URL
like http://m.taverna.myserver.org/workflow-status and be able to log
in and check on how things were progressing, all while I walk to campus.

If you find that "Teach yourself Java in 24 hours" book, please pass
along the reference. I'd love to contribute code, but I can hardly
debug the beanshells in my own workflows!

Cheers,

Andrea
