Hi,
We are setting up a practical for some of our mRes students that uses some
public web services and some web services deployed on a virtual machine. The
idea is to orchestrate these using Taverna. We have Taverna 2.1 running, and
it can successfully talk to the services on the net. To get this working, we
had to tell it about our university firewall, including exclusion rules for
non-external services.
We have a service deployed on a vm that's hosted on the same machine as
taverna runs. With a browser and with wget on the host, we can fetch the
wsdl for the service in the vm. So, we think that the vm-host networking
stuff is set up correctly. However, when we try to fetch the wsdl from
within taverna, it goes through what looks like a time-out and then
complains:
Could not read the SDL definition from
HTTP://192.168.56.3:8308/ondex/services/ONDEXManagerWS?wsdljava.net.SocketException:
SOCKS:TTL expired
Could not read the SDL definition from
HTTP://192.168.56.3:8308/ondex/services/ONDEXManagerWS?wsdljava.net.SocketException:
SOCKS: Host unreachable
We know the host /is/ reachable, as we can both wget and browse to it. So, I
am guessing that taverna is trying to go via the university network or the
university proxy. However, without sticking a load of network sniffing stuff
on, I'm not sure how to check this, and I'm definitely not sure how to fix
it.
Any ideas gratefully received.
