editing the t2flow file, is it not? I'm not sure which tag I had to
change to make it work. I changed the depth to 2 in the following line,
but it doesn't seem to work:
<outputPorts><port><name>getSynsetsReturn</name><depth>2</depth><granularDepth>2</granularDepth></port></outputPorts>
I also don't know what depth and granularDepth are. I have tried other
settings as well to no avail.
If there is no immediate proper solution, could an intermediate solution
be to allow changing this depth parameter in Taverna itself?

Yes it is a known problem - see
http://www.mygrid.org.uk/dev/issues/browse/T2-486 . Taverna intreprets
the WSDL service as returning a list of strings, but it is really a list
of list of strings The bug is difficult to solve though and has been
looked at several times. It is scheduled to be looked at again for
Taverna 2.3.
