I like the concept of s/mime but based on the problems we've
encountered here, it doesn't seem quite ready for prime time. However,
I don't think we should give up on it. I'm sure eventually the flaws
will be sorted out.

In the meantime, for anything secure I prefer pgp. I never liked the
s/mime concept that I had to get a cert from a 3rd party who would
have a copy of my key. I like the fact that I can generate my own with
pgp. I also like the fact that I can get someone else's public key
easily off of the key servers. I can always request a copy from the
party directly, if I'm concerned that the published key is in
question. This seems more sensible to me than jumping hoops to try and
get other s/mime certs working. I still would like to get s/mime
working smoothly because some people will never use pgp but might try
s/mime. At least we have both options available with The Bat.
