Hello all!
Could anybody make the test of the server/TB combination? First, create
message to yourself and put your address also in Bcc field. Then send it to
your POP3 server, set The Bat! to leave messages on it and try to receive
mail periodically, simultaneously observing what happens.
During first connection to my server The Bat! received two messages
addressed to me. Both were identical (including Message-Id) because of Bcc
field contents. Every next connection gave me one new message identical with
originally received ones. There were two identical messages on the server
and The Bat! continuously received one of them, even showing it as new in
Mail Dispatcher window. There were several similar tests made, using Outlook
Express, Mozilla Messenger and Sylpheed (on Linux box). All these mail
clients received two original messages and then no more.
The problem is probably caused by wrong interpretation of UIDL command
results by The Bat!. Some servers create different UIDL-s for two identical
messages, but there are servers which create identical UIDL-s in such cases.
An example of POP session log is attached. I sent two test messages to
myself with my address in Bcc and The Bat! found new ones each time.
Sometimes this may be very frustrating if an user has Inbox overloaded with
identical messages. Of course, I know that sending Bcc to myself seems
stupid, but this happened not only to me in real mailing.
