Simply changing the port will not provide a secure connection. I'm
fairly certain you can only use a regular connection with LDAP (and
TB!.)

You can use these protocols with TLS. Simply configure your connection
in the Transport section of account properties. Once a connection is
established you will receive a certificate (for the mail server) and
will need to add this to your trusted root CA.
