Thanks for the suggestion, but I need my spelling checker, otherwise you'd all laugh at me. ;) In any event, that wasn't the problem. As you can see from my signature line, I've managed to fix things I can now run the latest versions. Just as I suspected, the problem wasn't OS related. It has something to do with my account settings. Unfortunately, I didn't pinpoint the exact cause. This is how I fixed it: I copied the mail directory to a safe place and exported the registry settings. Then I completely uninstalled The Bat!. I reinstalled the latest MSI and created 1 account. After closing The Bat! I imported the registry settings. This creates an empty account directory tree under the mail directory (/BatMail). I saved a copy of this newly created /BatMail directory in a safe place also. Then I copied one account at a time from my original saved /BatMail to the new installation, each time firing up The Bat! to make sure it would load. This was rather tedious as I have 19 email accounts. Eventually I found 2 accounts that caused The Bat to fail to load. I copied the old folder directories (inbox, outbox, etc) but add some of them manually ($KNOWN$, $JUNK$, etc). I also had to reconfigure the account properties. I managed to save all of my old message data which was my biggest concern. I can only conclude that the account.* data files for these 2 account had something not compatible with the latest Bat versions. Oddly enough they worked fine with older Bat versions and I had no problems downloading and sending messages with these accounts. If anyone else has this Bat loading problem and only has a few email accounts, perhaps it would be easier to just delete the account.* files and recreate them manually. This might save going through the gyrations I did. I would keep backups though before proceeding. -- Kevin Coates Dewitt, NY USA Using TB! v3.5.28 under Windows XP 5.1.2600 SP2 ________________________________________________________________ (see kludges for my pgp key)
