If I rename ddhelp.exe and start TB!, then it starts. However, there
is no user interface.

And

the process uses about 96% CPU until I execute the hoversnap,
screen-shot, program when it drops a little in CPU useage.

The fact remains that TB! can not be used unless DDHELP and associated
components are loaded at TB! startup.

IF this is so, then, at least, TB! should shut down ddhelp at exit of
TB!

IF

no other program is using it at the time of TB! shutdown

and that's the *rub* isn't it? How does the programmer decide if
another program is using it?

Why does Win2000 and XP NOT need the GUI DLL's from ddhelp.exe and
WinME does?

Maybe that's how to approach the issue .... or ..... are they thinking
that, very soon, no one will be using Win98 and WinME??

Might be logical to think that, but I daresay it will be 3 or 4 years
before even I would argue along those lines.
