Yes you are right, there is no checkmark beside the "None" color group
and yet it takes the properties of the "none" group.

I then tried to create a virtual folder that would only show the"none"
color  group, but it is not offered as a choice. There is a choice for
"Generic" and if I choose that it shows me all the messages except the
one I had originally set to the test color group that I deleted. Hence
I  agree  that  this  does  not  work  as it should, but your original
message was a bit misleading.
