Hallo Charlene,

I don't have any experience with AV's on aborting filter editing, but
the slow export of large amounts of messages I can confirm.
This has recently been discussed on TBUDL: mid:[EMAIL PROTECTED]

Where I came with this experiment:

TB started with exporting more than 1000 messages a minute, but later
on it slowed down:
10 minutes: 11000 msgs
20 minutes: 18000 msgs
39 minutes: 23052 msgs (all)
You can see that the first ten minutes were the most productive (11000
msgs), the next ten minutes only gave 7000 msgs, while the final 5000
msgs took 19 minutes.

On considering this, I guess that TB checks for every export what's
the next free number, therefore it has to check the contents of the
target directory and checking all files in a directory with 10000
files takes longer than when you've got a mere 100 files. I think
that's the reason that the export slows down.
BTW I think it would be very sloppy programming when the number
checking would be skipped, after all there could be another program
that's writing to the same directory.

CF> Is there a restriction in size the OTFE can handle?

I don't think it's an OTFE issue, even though I'm using OTFE too.

I don't think RAM is the issue either. I've got two GB and I followed
TB's memory usage during my experiment two days ago and IIRC TB never
used more than about 80 MB. It kept on using all free CPU power.

And yes, just like you I disabled all background processes that
weren't absolutely vital.
