I totally believe that it works at you. But as a scientist myself, I am inherently after solving mysteries :)) So, could you send me screen captures about the different stages (after typing 1, after pressing Ctrl+Space, after pressing Shift+Home) to me in private? There must be a reasonable reason (different charset?) why it works for you and not for us...
