I was using fixed pitch fonts back at times I was using OE, because I
was getting quite a lot letters with ASCII graphics in signatures, and
they only show correctly with fixed-pitch fonts. Also, some people use
them for formatting tables, which again show correctly with fixed
pitch fonts only.
BTW: I'm using Lucida Console as my font, I think it's easier readable
than Courier New.
