Well, I just tried it, wondering if they had fixed the problem, and it
still doesn't work. If you position the cursor with the mouse and go
straight to Alt+L, the left justify isn't properly done. You have to
give at least one keyboard input (I usually just hit one of the arrow
buttons) before using the shortcut.

The width of his message view window is the problem. It was too small.
Switching to a smaller font allowed more characters per line causing
the wrap effect not to occur which was messing up his formatting.
