This is very true. My colleagues, who use Outlook, have no problem
displaying European characters, because Outlook uses all kinds of
fonts. I used to use Netscape Mail and Eudora before I switched to TB,
and both displayed the Eruopean characters correctly, too. In TB,
these characters always display as Chinese characters. It's annoying
to say the least: I had a case were I had to ask my office in Hamburg
to fax me a (German) person's name, because it was simply illegible in
TB with the Chinese characters all over the place.
My opinion is, allow variable width fonts - and those who don't want
to use them, shouldn't.
